HOW IS IT PERFORMED?

Common areas where fillers are used

  • Face
  • Around the eyes
  • Along the jaw
  • Around the lips
  • In the forehead.

The surgeon decided the type, number, location and depth of the injections required based on your cosmetic goals.
Based on their duration of action the fillers are classified as Temporary, semi-permanent and Permanent.

Temporary Fillers

  • Collagen-Based Fillers: Collagen is protein which naturally occurs in the body. This is the first filler which came into the market and has a successful track record. E.g.: Cosmoderm.
  • Hyaluronic Acid-Based Fillers Hyaluronic acid is also a naturally occurring substance in the body. E.g.: Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane.
  • Calcium Hydroxylapatite: This substance occurs in our bones naturally. Compared to hyaluronic acid this is heavier and denser. This filler can be injected to deeper layers of the skin.

Semi-Permanent Fillers

They contain “poly-L-lactic acid” which is a biodegradable substance. The fillers which last longer typically contain thicker substances. Though they offer semi-permanent results a ‘touch up’ is necessary to keep up the result. E.g.: Sculptra, Radiesse

Permanent Fillers

These contain ‘polymethylmethacrylate’ (PMMA). These body’s immunesystem cannot absorb these microspheres. These fillers may also include collagen. Permanent fillers are used only at areas with a thick skin such as the nasolabial folds. It is not recommended or used of think skinned locations such as the lips and around the eyes.
