The surgeon strategically plans and places the incisions and stitches for the surgery in terms of number, size, material, location and technique aiming to keep the resulting scar minimal, hidden and not easily visible eye. Special tissue handling and suture techniques further minimize scars.

Tummy Tuck

The incision is made from one corner of the hip to the other just above the pubic area. The scar left behind by it falls along the natural crease within the bikini line. The length and visibility of the scar varies.

As only small incisions are used in liposuction, the scars left behind by them are also small. The surgeon strategically places them in well hidden areas.

Breast Lift

There are different types of breast lifts, each with different scarring patterns. The surgeon can conceal some incision lines in natural breast contours, but others will be visible on the breast surface. Although the scars left along the lines of incision are permanent, they will fade in most cases and improve over time significantly.

Breast Reduction

Four different types of incisions are used here. The type of incision made is chosen based on

  • Breast size
  • Degree of breasts sagging
  • Position of the nipple-areola complex on the breast.

Breast Augmentation

Your incision can be made in one of four places

  1. inframammary, underneath the breast
  2. transaxillary, near the armpit, where the arm meets the chest area
  3. transumbilical, in the belly button (only for saline implants)
  4. periareolar, around the lower edge of the areola.

Mommy makeover constitutes a set of procedures which target to restore a woman’s youthful look before her pregnancy.

Tummy Tuck

Aka Abdominoplasty: In this surgical procedure, the surgeon removes the loose abdominal skin and tightens the abdominal muscles with sutures. After pregnancy a flabby abdomen with stretch marks and poor skin elasticity will occur. This happens due to the weight gain and stretching of the inner girdle of fascia and abdominal muscles (which holds the internal organs in place) during pregnancy. These issues are addressed by tummy tuck procedure.

Aka Lipoplasty: While a tummy tuck addresses the issues in the waist a liposuction can improve the contours at the flanks and hips. This is usually performed at the same time as a tummy tuck.

Breast Lift

Aka Mastopexy: After pregnancy , due to weight gain and breast feeding one will be able to notice a Sagging of breasts, stretching of areolas and drooping of nipples. A breast lift addresses these issues lifting your breasts thus giving a more youthful look.

Breast lift combined with breast augmentation

A breast augmentation with implants or a breast reduction can be performed alongside if you wish for a larger/smaller or more rounded breasts.

Breast Reduction

During pregnancy due to increased fatty tissue and mammary glandular tissue the breasts would swell and increase in size. Sometimes this increase could be disproportionate and would lead to posture problems and back pain etc., Breast reduction removes the excess fat and glandular tissue and tightens the skin to produce smaller, lighter breasts.

Breast Augmentation

Aka Augmentation Mammoplasty: This can be done by using implants or by fat transfer. Implants of various shapes, sizes and materials are available in the market. The surgeon can advise you accordingly based on your cosmetic goals.

Drains will be removed by the 5th day.

Don’t do any strenuous physical activity for atleast 6 weeks.

Of all the procedures, the most discomfort would be experienced from ‘tummy tuck’. You may feel very uncomfortable the first 2 days after the surgery. It will eventually fall down over five to seven days.

The swelling will gradually subside over five weeks.

You will be able to appreciate the results accurately by 3 months after the procedure.

Try and sleep on your back with a pillow below your knees and a few supporting your back. This arrangement will significantly decrease the tension on your abdomen and facilitates better healing of the incision thus leading to a thinner scar.

The surgeon may provide you with a special surgical bra, which will support your breast after an augmentation or a reduction and helps in reducing the swelling.

Swelling from augmentation usually resolves within weeks but for a reduction it may take up to 4 months.

You will be required to use an abdominal binder after a tummy tuck, this provides additional support to the abdomen and aids for a better result.
After a shower pat dry your incision sites and keep them hygienic.

Refrain from strenuous physical activity like, weight lifting, jogging for at least 6 weeks.
