Also known as Brazilian butt lift or butt implants

Often, Shapely buttocks are seen as a symbol of femininity and sensuality. The procedure of Buttock augmentation aims to reshape and enhance your gluteal area thus giving you a shapelier and uplifted buttock profile. Usually this can be done by 2 methods: By fat grafting by using your own natural fatty tissue (this is popularly known as Brazilian butt lift) and by using buttock implants.

Buttock Augmentation can be considered in the following situations where

  • Buttocks are too small relative to your body frame
  • Buttocks which are too flat or square
  • Buttocks which became loose, sagging and flat as a result of weight loss or aging process.
  • Swimwear and clothes are not fitting properly on your physique.

Many people who consider Buttock augmentation also consider Liposuction and Breast augmentation

Autologous fat transfer

Fat is harvested from one area of your body, processed and injected into your buttocks to enhance their shape.

Fat is harvested from fat rich areas in your body such as the thighs, back, hips and abdomen. Liposuction cannulas are used to remove the fat.

3 small incisions are usually necessary for reinjecting the fat into the buttocks. They are strategically placed such that, they are easily hidden under the clothing.

Fat grafting is done in multiple layers while the cannula is moving back and forth to ensure an even distribution of the fat.

The incisions are closed with sutures.

Drains will be inserted.

Compression garments should be worn after the surgery for a prescribed period of time.

Buttock Implants

For treating flat buttocks or poorly defined buttocks, implants would be the most appropriate choice especially when patients have limited fatty tissue. But they won’t make an effective choice for sagging buttocks resulting from significant weight loss.

An incision will be made in the natural buttock crease, this is strategically chosen as it can be hidden easily under clothing or from an untrained eye. An alternate incision site can also be used as per the case.

A silicone implant which is appropriately shaped and soft will be placed in the pocket below the Gluteal (buttock) muscle and above the pelvic bone.

Incisions will be closed with sutures.

Drains will be inserted, which will be removed later.

A compression garment should be worn for a prescribed period of time.

Which procedure is best for me?

After careful evaluation of your health and your cosmetic goals the surgeon will recommend the best option for you.

Usually, for a more enhanced rounded appearance of buttocks, implants are chosen.

Fat grafting would be a good choice for contouring and reshaping the buttocks.

Implants would be appropriate for lean people with little excess fat.

In cases with sagging buttocks resulting from a massive weight loss, the fat grafting alone or a combination of fat grafting and implant surgery would make an effective strategy.

A safety warning regarding Silicone injections

Silicone injections are unacceptable as they are an unsafe option posing health hazards for buttock augmentation. Always consult your MCI licensed surgeon when you are considering the buttock augmentation procedure. These are often offered by unlicensed individuals, hence exert due diligence while choosing your doctor.
